Monkey In The Machine

The times when you finish a day, thinking you’ve created a work of brilliance; only to revisit the following morning and realise the monkey had broken loose in your head and that the work is destined for the bin - along with countless earlier attempts…

Or the times when 5 minutes from home, questioning whether you locked the door or not, Turning back, you not only find the door safely locked, but now you’re running late and fearing any watching neighbours think you crazy…

Perhaps the time when you have laid awake at night after socialising; worrying you’ve said too much; or the wrong things and that now your associates will think you a fool and excommunicate you…

All of the above — The Monkey In The Machine…

Syndicate A

A Sceptical, maybe cynical Tale recounting Concerns over the WEF and the Great Reset… Of course, to mention the WEF by name is potentially hazardous, so we've used a pseudonym — Syndicate A.

The song is also a good marching tune, if you like marching?

Money Talkin'

‘Money talks bullsh*t walks’ according to Bobbi Flekman of Polymer Records. The guy in this song is now on shanks’ pony due to some poor financial choices. He’s had a major row with the boss and she’s had to let him go.  He's bereft, no longer able to earn huge sums, predicting which companies were about to announce redundancies, go bust and see execs bail with golden severance packages.

What goes around comes around..?

C'est La Vie

A loving couple, who would dearly love to start a family, but are struggling to conceive. After trying all solutions available to them, the situation is causing considerable heartbreak and stress. Slowly comes the unbearably painful realisation that perhaps it’s time to say “C’est La Vie”? Although arguably more agreeable in French, the sentiment still feels immeasurably inadequate.

Easy?

The hometown is in a state of industrial and social dereliction. Local industry has collapsed.  The former workers are forced to struggle on government benefits, with an increasingly bleak future.  Some turn to drugs, some to crime and others to prostitution.

The song lyrics were actually written a long, long time ago but you know what? Nothing much has changed. Sadly it is perhaps just as relevant now as it was then.

Bright Light!

Our questioning hero fancies a break and walks into a bar with a stage being prepared, when an inattentive young roadie shines a bright spotlight directly into his face. Not what he is hoping for when trying to keep a low profile… Once settled in a suitably anonymous booth, He starts to reflect on live bands being replaced by D.J.s, A.I. and Autotune. He still loves them though.

Shadows

A sorry tale about a “friend” who was being two-timed by his girlfriend. He has his suspicions and can constantly see the other guy in the shadows, wherever they go...

No Time To Cry

We’ve actually no idea what this song is about but we don’t care, we both like it and there are some cracking guitar riffs to enjoy.

Don't Throw It All Away

An older man, in a lot of pain, munching tablets all day, decides he’s just about had enough. He’s pleading for help ending it all, when the people that love him say they don’t agree; that he can just ‘check out’ when he fancies. Friends and family try to help him change his mind.

Close To The Edge

We all love songs about the threat of nuclear war, so here’s another one.  Like the lyric says “Wise men with no brains, rattle their sabres while playing with the button. They tell us all they’re not insane while we’re being sold down the river again”.
